Junior Docents

What Is the Junior Docent Program?

Junior Docents are trained museum volunteers between the ages of 10 and 15, who help visitors to the museum better understand and appreciate the museum collections and history. Junior Docents interact with guests in a hands-on setting, assist with educational programming, and help community events run smoothly.

Throughout the academic year, Junior Docents will have the opportunity to attend social events with other program participants, take off-site field trips to other local historic sites with Education department staff, and gain experience in the field of public history!

How Do I Join the Junior Docent Program?

Interested candidates must fill out the Junior Docent Application. The Junior Docent Coordinator will contact you to schedule an on-site interview to get to know you better. Once selected to join the Junior Docent program, you will be asked to be on site at least once per month and remain in the program for the entirety of the academic year.

This year, 25 students will be selected for the 2022-2023 Junior Docent Program. Applications are currently open. Selection is based upon application and interview.
