The Educator at Belle Meade Historic Site and Winery plays a pivotal role at the intersection of education, public history, and hospitality. Educators are tasked with delivering exceptional programs for audiences of all ages, utilizing various teaching techniques. Additionally, the Educator conducts tours and interactive sessions tailored to diverse groups, ranging from toddlers to seniors.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Conducts captivating and informative site tours for families and children, presenting accurate information in line with program themes.
- Orchestrates and leads a diverse range of hands-on activities and crafts, enhancing participant engagement and enjoyment.
- Engages in collaborative planning and execution of monthly sessions for the Homeschool History Club, with potential involvement in future developments.
- Plays a crucial role in the successful implementation of the Junior Docent Volunteer Program.
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of diverse learning styles and developmental stages, catering to various age groups and abilities.
- Embraces a customer-centric approach, ensuring positive and tailored interactions with all guests.
- Prioritizes guest safety and professionalism while addressing visitor needs, adhering to institutional guidelines.
- Actively participates in training programs and staff meetings to deepen understanding of the site and stay updated on educational theories.
- Ensures cleanliness and organization of education program materials after each tour.
- Assists with the cleaning and resetting of Adventure Backpacks.
- Fulfills additional duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated understanding of various learning styles and developmental stages.

Education and Experience
- Public speaking or teaching experience with an interest in history is ideal.
- Academic or work experience in education, history, or related fields preferred.
- Classroom or museum teaching experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience with children or families is preferred.
- Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Works in a variety of settings including administrative, mansion, classroom, and outdoors.
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to transverse the property, including going upstairs and across pea gravel paths and/or grass, as well as concrete sidewalks.
- Conducts programming in a range of environments, including hot temperatures and cold weather.
- Must be available as scheduled, including weekends, with some evenings and holidays.

About the Position
The Reservation Specialist at Belle Meade Historic Site & Winery is responsible for greeting guests and checking in guests with reservations. This role involves selling tickets on-site and guiding guests to various attractions. Reservation Specialists have a passion for providing excellent customer service and a commitment to hospitality.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet visitors to the site, collect tickets, and provide guidance on exhibits and points of interest.
- Display a customer-focused demeanor and effectively engage with large daily crowds.
- Provide outstanding customer service and promptly address any inquiries from visitors.
- Develop expertise in all public ticketed experiences and actively promote ticket sales to walk-in visitors.
- Assist in coordinating special events and programs, particularly those held on weekends.
- Fulfill any additional assigned duties as required to support operational needs.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent oral communication and people skills.
- Ability to multitask efficiently and within designated timeframes
- Strong customer service skills
Education and Experience
- Familiarity with a point-of-sale system is desirable
- Strong customer service skills are a must
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Sitting, standing, and walking for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, twist, grab, and lift
- Provide necessary provisions for individuals with diverse mobility needs
- Belle Meade Historic Site & Winery is open daily 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; the work schedule for this position reflects these hours, including weekends and some holidays
