The Reservation Specialist at Belle Meade Historic Site & Winery is responsible for greeting guests and checking in guests with reservations. This role involves selling tickets on-site and guiding guests to various attractions. Reservation Specialists have a passion for providing excellent customer service and a commitment to hospitality.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet visitors to the site, collect tickets, and provide guidance on exhibits and points of interest.
- Display a customer-focused demeanor and effectively engage with large daily crowds.
- Provide outstanding customer service and promptly address any inquiries from visitors.
- Develop expertise in all public ticketed experiences and actively promote ticket sales to walk-in visitors.
- Assist in coordinating special events and programs, particularly those held on weekends.
- Fulfill any additional assigned duties as required to support operational needs.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent oral communication and people skills.
- Ability to multitask efficiently and within designated timeframes
- Strong customer service skills
Education and Experience
- Familiarity with a point-of-sale system is desirable

Department: Museum Gift Shop
Reports to: Museum Store Buyer and Manager

Type: In-personAbout the Position
The Museum Gift Shop Store Assistant at Belle Meade Historic Site is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to guests, assisting them in finding the perfect souvenirs and gifts to commemorate their visit. Additionally, they help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the gift shop, process transactions accurately, and contribute to creating an inviting and welcoming atmosphere for guests.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome visitors while communicating our readiness to provide assistance.
- Gift shop stations include:
- Greeter
- Floater
- Behind the counter
- Team responsibilities also include restocking, cleaning, pricing, and displaying new merchandise.
- Ready the store for public opening and confirm store doors are unlocked.
- Perform a cash count of the Point of Sale (POS) system to reconcile register funds.
- Respond to store calls when it does not disrupt ongoing customer interactions.
- Familiarize yourself with store inventory and retrieve merchandise from overflow stock as needed for replenishment.
- Assist in pricing and labeling merchandise.
- Conduct register reconciliation at close, post cash entries, and deposit funds into a secured safe.
- Confirm the change to ensure accurate preparation of the required amount for the following day.
- Adhere to the daily “To-Do” List for cleaning duties in the store.
- Close and safeguard the establishment by securing all doors and turning off all lights/equipment.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Able to perform physical duties and tasks, including lifting, moving, and climbing stairs.
- Able to count and make change with a focus on accuracy.
- Able to engage in a courteous and calm manner with customers and staff.
Education and Experience
- Retail and customer service experience necessary.
- Retain a keen interest in learning about Belle Meade’s history and attractions.

Job Title: Historic Interpreter

Type: In-personAbout the Position
The Historic Interpreter shall possess an upbeat and outgoing personality with a team-oriented mindset, conducting tours of Belle Meade Historic Site for diverse audiences. As communications professionals, interpreters are responsible for presenting a variety of tours, programs, and demonstrations to guests by using informal interpretation techniques. Aside from tours, interpreters may perform ticketing duties, guest orientation, and general office work as needed to support the company goals.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Conduct tours throughout the house for guests of all ages in a personable and knowledgeable manner, while providing accurate information relevant to the major themes of the site’s history.
- Welcome the public, collect tickets, and provide general directions to guests that pertain to exhibits and points of interest on-site.
- Display a customer-oriented attitude while interacting with large groups of people daily.
- Assist in providing security for the site, buildings, and collections. Help ensure the safety of guests; respond calmly and professionally to emergencies following all institutional guidelines.
- Participate in training programs and staff meetings to expand knowledge of the site and to strengthen interpretive skills.
- Update and modify tours as new or relevant information becomes available and for changing exhibits.
- Assist with special events and programs, often held on the weekends and during evenings.
- Lead guided educational tours and programs for school-age groups.
- Complete administrative assignments and projects when tours are not in session.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent oral communication skills and experience working with the public.
- Articulate and self-regulating; reliable.
- Able to assimilate information and impart it in an engaging, coherent, and factual manner.
- Must demonstrate initiative, leadership qualities, and flexibility.
Education/Experience
- Public speaking and/or teaching experience with an interest in history is ideal.
- Experience working with the general public is a plus.
- High school diploma or GED required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Must be available as scheduled, including weekends and holidays.
- Belle Meade Historic Site & Winery is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; the work schedule for this position reflects these hours.
- Involves a mix of indoor work for planned events and outdoor activities for walking tours with an exposure to various weather conditions.
- Position requires prolonged standing and walking with the ability to bend, stoop, squat, turn and pivot. Necessitating stamina to navigate uneven terrain and lead tours safely on varying terrains.
- Provide necessary provisions for individuals with diverse mobility needs.
